Alexys

Reception Management Lead

Alexys has had a life-long love for animals. At an early age, Alexys developed a strong passion for horses which lead her to an education at Olds College in Equine Science. From her very first pony, Copper, to now, she has always been heavily involved in the horse world. From riding, to coaching and training,  her experiences have provided her with the communication skills and compassion for all animals and clients.

Residing on a grain farm near Onoway, Alexys lives with her boyfriend Peter and their crew of animals. They have 4 cats, Ada, Tommy, Esme, and Polly, a new puppy Annie Oakley, and her horse Ku! When they aren’t busy with the animals or the farm they enjoy camping and visiting Alexys’ family in BC.

Alexys enjoys handling the animals, chatting with clients, and helping make the clinic experience as smooth as possible.

Larissa

Veterinary Medical Assistant

Larissa was born and raised in the community of Spruce Grove but spent her weekends and summers at her aunt and uncle’s llama farm in Genesee, AB. She always knew from a young age she wanted to have a career working with animals. She graduated with honors from the Veterinary Medical Assistant program at NAIT in 2013 and furthered her education by completing the Veterinary Practice Management program through Olds College in 2017.

She comes to the clinic from a busy small animal referral practice in Edmonton and is excited to come back and work in the community she grew up in. Larissa is very compassionate and committed to providing the best possible care to clients and their furry family members.

Larissa and her husband Stephen share their home with their very spoiled Shih Tzu mixes, Max and Lacey. In her spare time, Larissa enjoys spending time with her family, walks in the river valley, and road trips to the mountains.

Mysha

Reception Management Lead

Mysha has lived all over Alberta from Lethbridge to Fort McMurray but did most of her growing up in Spruce Grove where she attended WoodHaven Jr. High and Spruce Grove Composite High School. She has always been a lover of animals big and small, and had hopes of working in the animal world one way or another. From being an in house pet sitter to volunteering her time at shelters she was always getting her animal fix somehow without having a dog of her own. She now lives in Spruce Grove with her high school sweet heart James and their two cats, Bobby and Billy.

Mysha takes a special interest in animal behaviour, and is currently working towards a Dog Behavioural Methodology Training certificate. We are very lucky to have her behavioural knowledge at the Meridian Veterinary Clinic!

Heather

Heather grew up in Spruce Grove and had always wanted to work with animals. After spending some time being a stay at home mom, she decided to pursue a career in the veterinary field and obtained a Veterinary Office Assistant diploma from Robertson College.

Heather enjoys spending her time with her two children, Madison and Casen, her Labrador named Thor, and her corn snake, Loki.

Shayla-Anne

Clinic Assistant

Shayla-Anne has lived in various places around Alberta, but has spent most of her life in the Stony Plain area. She has always loved being around animals of all shapes and sizes, and from a young age knew she wanted a career working with them in some capacity. Growing up, Shayla-Anne raised many kinds of pets – from birds, to bunnies, to cats and dogs, which fuelled her passion for animals.

Before graduating from the Veterinary Medical Assistant program at NAIT, Shayla-Anne spent time volunteering at the Humane society. She is excited to be fulfilling her dream of working with animals and hopes to further expand her knowledge and pursue a career as a Registered Veterinary Technologist.

Shayla-Anne currently resides in Spruce Grove with her fiancé Kyle, two dogs Layka and Niko, a bearded dragon name Winston, and a Florida kingsnake named Ammy. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, camping, hiking, reading, playing guitar and listening to music.
